THE GOSPEL — JESUS CHRIST
The Gospel means good news.
And the good news is not merely a message.
Jesus Christ is the Gospel.
He is the center of our faith.
He is the way to the Father.
He is the one who came for us, died for us, rose from the dead, and calls us to follow Him.
1. GOD CREATED US
We believe God is the Creator of heaven and earth.
Human life is not an accident.
We were created by God, for God, and with dignity because we bear His image.
“So God created man in his own image.”
— Genesis 1:27
God created us to know Him, walk with Him, and live according to His will.
2. SIN SEPARATES US FROM GOD
Every person has sinned.
Sin is more than making mistakes.
Sin is choosing our own way instead of God’s way.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23
None of us can make ourselves righteous before God through status, money, good works, family background, intelligence, religion, or personal achievement.
We need mercy.
We need forgiveness.
We need salvation.
3. JESUS CHRIST IS THE GOSPEL
Jesus Christ is not merely a prophet or teacher.
Jesus Christ is God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”
— John 1:14
The Gospel is not simply a set of ideas about Jesus.
The Gospel is Jesus Christ Himself.
He is the good news.
He is our hope.
He is our salvation.
He is the one who brings us back to God.
4. CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS
Jesus willingly went to the cross.
He died for sinners.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8
The cross shows us two things at the same time:
Sin is serious.
And God’s mercy is greater than our sin.
Christ did what we could not do for ourselves.
5. JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD
The Gospel does not end at the cross.
Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”
— Matthew 28:6
Because Christ lives, death does not have the final word.
Because Christ lives, forgiveness is possible.
Because Christ lives, we have hope of resurrection and eternal life.
Christianity is not built around a dead teacher.
We follow the risen Lord.
6. SALVATION IS BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
We cannot earn salvation.
It is the gift of God.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”
— Ephesians 2:8
We are not saved because we were good enough.
We are saved because Christ is merciful.
We receive that grace through faith in Him.
7. WE ARE CALLED TO REPENT
Faith is not merely saying that Jesus exists.
The Gospel calls us to repent.
To repent means to turn toward God.
It means recognizing our sin, confessing it, and choosing to follow Christ.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”
— Acts 3:19
Repentance does not mean becoming perfect overnight.
It means no longer making peace with sin.
It means turning back to God when we fall.
8. THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, WE MAY COME DIRECTLY TO THE THRONE OF GOD
When Jesus died, the veil of the temple was torn.
“And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.”
— Matthew 27:51
Because of Jesus Christ, the way has been opened.
We may come directly to the throne of God through Him to seek mercy, forgiveness, grace, and help.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
— Hebrews 4:16
We do not need wealth.
We do not need status.
We do not need a special family name.
And we do not need another human being to stand between us and God in order to seek His mercy.
Through Jesus Christ, we may come directly to the throne of God.
9. BAPTISM FOLLOWS FAITH AND REPENTANCE
Jesus calls us not only to believe privately, but to follow Him openly.
We believe baptism should follow personal faith and repentance.
“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ.”
— Acts 2:38
Baptism is not a substitute for faith.
It is the response of a person who has personally chosen to follow Christ.
10. FOLLOWING CHRIST MEANS A CHANGED LIFE
The Gospel is not simply about escaping judgment.
It is about becoming new.
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
Following Jesus should change how we live.
How we speak.
How we treat our families.
How we handle money.
How we forgive.
How we exercise authority.
How we treat strangers.
How we respond when we are wrong.
Grace does not give us permission to continue proudly in sin.
“Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.”
— Romans 6:1–2
11. WHEN WE SIN, WE RETURN TO CHRIST
Christians still face temptation.
Christians can still fail.
The answer is not to hide from God.
The answer is to return to Him.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.”
— 1 John 1:9
When you sin:
Confess it.
Repent.
Make things right where possible.
Receive God’s mercy.
And continue walking with Christ.
We do not believe grace means that sin no longer matters.
We believe grace means the door of repentance remains open.
12. COME TO JESUS CHRIST
The Gospel is not complicated.
You do not need to become important first.
You do not need to become rich first.
You do not need to fix your entire life before approaching God.
Come to Christ as you are.
But do not expect Christ to leave you as you are.
Jesus said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
— John 14:6
Believe in Him.
Repent of your sins.
Trust His mercy.
Follow Him.
And when you fall, return to Him.
THE GOOD NEWS
The Gospel is Jesus Christ.
He came.
He died for our sins.
He rose from the dead.
He offers grace.
He calls us to repentance.
He forgives.
He restores.
He gives eternal life.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
— Romans 10:13
Jesus Christ is the Gospel.
